Great pressure cooker set
Have used aluminum pressure cooker for many years. This set is a great replacement. High quality stainless steel. Have used mostly smaller size pot which is quite roomy and fits 6 to 8 full-size ears of corn, for example. Very easy to open and close. Very happy with purchase.
Happy with my choice
I am one of the many who remember "blowups" on mom...so as much as I wanted a cooker, I was hesitant. Once I became aware of the improvements over the years I decided to give it a try. After much research I choose the duo combi. I liked the sizes. If other fagor sets had the larger pot I would have considered them too. I have used the pot a few times and find it very user friendly. Not at all scary like I remember them being decades ago. They are heavy. The lid doesn't stack well so it does take more storage space but that can be delt with.
One negative point is with the pasta basket. When I used it the wimpy handle popped off as the pot was lifted about 2", dropping the basket back into the pot. I was suprised at the design. In checking the photo on the pkg (not this site) it shows a double handle. Either way, I called the company and discussed it. They sent me a replacement, but unfortunately it is the exact same. I personally will not use it as I think it is not worth the risk of being burned or spilling food. The pic on the replacement pkg shows a double handle as well.
I do need to get a better cookbook. The included cookbook/instructions are minimal and being inexperienced I need more.
The Fagor phone people are very willing to assist.
I did get a nice griddle on rebate (I paid shipping). I think it was the best deal at the time. Do your research on rebates. Amazon didn't have it listed. Found elsewhere.
2nd Try the Charm
With my first set I was one of the unlucky few that had the problem with the broken handle, but Amazon's amazing return policy made returning it and getting a replacement super easy. The second set was perfect. I really love the pans. I have made 2 dishes so far and couldn't be more pleased. These are good heavy quality pans and I am pleased with my purchase.
I own the 10-quart model and will order these, too.
I bought the largest one Fagor makes (10 quarts) and I absolutely LOVE it. I use it several times a week. It's SO much faster than a regular pot, and the results are fantastic. I can put a whole chicken with celery, carrots & onions and have beautiful homemade stock and cooked chicken meat in an hour. I've used the big one for risotto, but it would be nice to have the smaller ones for that. The recipes that came with it are very good, and extremely useful as a guideline for cooking times and quantities of food. If you like spicy food, try making a Caribbean Hot Pot - TO DIE FOR and super fast! It isn't really meant to be a pressure canner - if you're looking for pressure canning this isn't what you want.
Great product, super service
Needed to replace an old pressure cooker that I loved so shopped on internet, decided on Fagor combi at Amazon,because of free shipping. Found at other merchants but would have had to pay shipping ( not cheap ). I will not shop around again untill I check at Amazon. Very quick service on shipping and packed extremely well. I especially chose this pot because of the 2 sizes but have used both and found this to be an exceptional product, easy to use and easy to clean. Cooks very well.
